Step 1 · Explore

Find offers near you

Open the listings and narrow the results to your area. Search by town or city, county or UK region. For a distance search, enter a UK postcode or district, then choose a radius of 5, 10, 25 or 50 miles; the search uses its approximate centre. You can also leave location filters empty and browse UK-wide.

Read each offer for its location, condition and handover options. Check whether the member is offering it for sale, trade, or either, and ask questions before agreeing.

Step 2 · Ask

Post what you’re looking for

Choose a Wanted request and describe the item, service or skill you need. Add useful details and your general area so nearby members can tell whether they can help. If you have a preference about buying or swapping, say so; you can discuss the terms together.

Select the Wanted Board option when you create your listing. Sign in or create an account if the site asks before you publish.

Step 3 · Agree

Arrange the handover with care

Before you commit, confirm what each person is offering, the item’s condition, anything included, and the place and time for the handover. Ask questions if a detail is unclear.

  • Where practical, meet somewhere busy in daylight.
  • Tell someone where you are going and who you are meeting.
  • Keep passwords, PINs and one-time bank codes private.
  • Pause or decline if you feel pressured or the arrangement feels wrong.

A short watch

Each public page gets its own random pick from Alan Becker, Pencilmation and additional videos supplied by Strawbarter. The selection changes every 24 hours, plays muted, and tries another curated video if an embed is unavailable.
